Getting a Florida Medical Marijuana, Cannabis Card
Minimum Requirements for Medical Marijuana
To qualify for Medical Marijuana in Florida, you must meet the following requirements:
- Must be 18 or older
- Must be a Florida resident with a VALID Florida issued ID / DL as proof of residency or provide alternate proof of residency (passport, bank statements, utility bill, etc.)
- Must have obtainable legitimate medical records or documentation from your primary care physician listing your qualifying debilitating medical condition
- Must register with the The Florida Department of Health
Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) (click here for information) - Must have tried other treatments without success and the ordering doctor must determine the risks of use are reasonable and beneficial
Qualifying Medical Conditions
In 2016, the legislation of Florida’s Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative took a massive step with Amendment 2 and approved patients with a debilitating medical condition to legally obtain medical marijuana. Amendment 2 was written specifically to allow medical marijuana to be provided as a treatment for patients with the following diseases:
- Cancer
- Epilepsy
- Glaucoma
- HIV+
- AIDS
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
- Crohn’s Disease
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Terminal Illness*
- Chronic Nonmalignant Pain*
*Medical Conditions of the same kind or class as specifically listed in Amendment 2
